Unit Title: "Tell Me Why?" (મને કહો શા માટે?)

આ યુનિટનો મુખ્ય ઉદ્દેશ્ય વિદ્યાર્થીઓને કારણ (Reason) અને પરિણામ (Result) વચ્ચેનો સંબંધ સમજાવવાનો છે. અંગ્રેજી ભાષામાં 'શા માટે' (Why) પૂછવામાં આવે ત્યારે તેનો જવાબ 'કારણ કે' (Because) થી આપવામાં આવે છે. તેમજ કોઈ ઘટના બને તો તેના પરિણામ માટે 'તેથી' (Therefore) વપરાય છે.

One morning a king went on horseback to the countryside.

King: Good morning, my friend. Why are you planting these saplings?

Old man: These saplings will be big trees in ten or fifteen years. They'll bear fruit then.
વૃદ્ધ માણસ: આ છોડ દસ કે પંદર વર્ષમાં મોટા ઝાડ થશે. પછી તે ફળ આપશે.

King: But you're old and weak so you will die in a few years. You will not eat their fruits.
રાજા: પણ તમે વૃદ્ધ અને અશક્ત છો તેથી તમે થોડા વર્ષોમાં મૃત્યુ પામશો. તમે તેમના ફળ ખાઈ શકશો નહીં.

Old man: You are right. I'll not eat the fruit. But I am doing this today because others will eat it and therefore I am happy.
વૃદ્ધ માણસ: તમે સાચા છો. હું ફળ ખાઈશ નહીં. પણ હું આજે આ કરી રહ્યો છું કારણ કે બીજા લોકો તે ખાશે અને તેથી હું ખુશ છું.

King: I am pleased with you, old man. You love people therefore you are a good man. Please, take this bag of money because I love your work and thoughts.
રાજા: હું તમારાથી પ્રસન્ન છું, વડીલ. તમે લોકોને પ્રેમ કરો છો તેથી તમે સારા માણસ છો. મહેરબાની કરીને પૈસાની આ થેલી લો કારણ કે મને તમારું કામ અને વિચારો ગમ્યા.

Old man: Thank you, sir. This bag of money is first fruit of my little trees.
વૃદ્ધ માણસ: આભાર, સાહેબ. પૈસાની આ થેલી મારા નાના વૃક્ષોનું પહેલું ફળ છે.

Today is 28th February. It is World Science Day. There is Science exhibition in Kartik's school.
આજે 28મી ફેબ્રુઆરી છે. તે વિશ્વ વિજ્ઞાન દિવસ છે. કાર્તિકની શાળામાં વિજ્ઞાન પ્રદર્શન છે.

The Maths-Science Club of the school is in charge of the exhibition.
શાળાની ગણિત-વિજ્ઞાન ક્લબ આ પ્રદર્શનની ઇન્ચાર્જ (સંભાળ રાખનાર) છે.

(Kartik visits the science exhibition with his mummy.)

Prachi: Nowadays, because of urbanization, we have no enough space to grow trees or plants.
પ્રાચી: આજકાલ, શહેરીકરણને કારણે, આપણી પાસે વૃક્ષો કે છોડ ઉગાડવા માટે પૂરતી જગ્યા નથી.

Therefore we should use terrace for gardening and for that, hydroponics method of gardening.
તેથી આપણે બાગકામ માટે અગાશીનો ઉપયોગ કરવો જોઈએ અને તેના માટે, બાગકામની હાઈડ્રોપોનિક્સ પદ્ધતિ.

In this method, we have to make layers of stones on plastics on the terrace.
આ પદ્ધતિમાં, આપણે અગાશી પર પ્લાસ્ટિક પર પથ્થરોના થર બનાવવા પડે છે.

With their help plants can stand. After that, plants will be planted at appropriate distance.

A plant may grow eighty feet or even more. Sometime it shoots up three feet in a single day!

Vasant: Banana leaves are large, flexible and waterproof. So, they are used as food container or plate. It is also useful in making cups, papers and dishes.
