Every year, the Great Rann of Kutch becomes very colourful in the winter season November to February. A special tent city is set up on the white salt desert. Tourists enjoy camel rides and watch folk dances, music concerts and cultural programs. There are many stalls of beautiful Kutchi handicrafts. People also listen to folk songs and storytelling. This festival shows the rich culture and heritage of Kutch, and tourists from India and abroad come to visit.

My favourite festival is Diwali, which is also popularly known as the Festival of Lights. It is generally celebrated in the Hindu month of Kartik (October or November) every year. Extensive preparations start many weeks in advance as families clean, paint and decorate their houses with colourful rangolis and diyas. During this festival season, we wear beautiful new traditional clothes and share delicious special foods and sweets like Kaju Katli, Laddoos and Chorafali with neighbors. The primary importance of Diwalis that it symbolizes the spirituel victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. It brings immense joy, unity and harmony to our society.
